Remara joins St George Illawarra Dragons as Apparel Partner
Sydney-based investment firm Remara has announced its partnership with the Dragons as Sternum Sponsor and official Investment Partner of the St George Illawarra Dragons National Rugby League (NRL) and NRLW.
The leading investment firm manages A$1.7Bn in assets across credit, real estate and tactical opportunities. Remara has recently opened its credit and real estate funds to retail investors, culminating with the release of its iPhone and Android app to make managing your investment portfolio easier.
This deal demonstrates the growth in Australia’s alternative investment market, with Remara among the first to announce a major sporting partnership.
Managing Partner of Remara Andrew McVeigh says that the opportunity to join the Dragons team and support one of the oldest clubs in the NRL was an opportunity purpose fit for Remara.
“The Dragons are a pillar of the community and they are Rugby League royalty. The team’s large and passionate fan base helped make our decision easy. We are excited about the club’s position and the leadership that has been shown from the board & senior executives through to the head coach, coaching staff and playing group. We have been really pleased with their professionalism and dedication to improving the club.”
McVeigh adds that Remara’s growth over the last several years can be attributed to a concentrated strategy to service all investors (including the average family) who have built wealth in property and small businesses over decades and are now looking for alternative investment options that are more tailored to their needs.
“We’ve been very conscious that people who have built wealth the traditional way, and in Australia, that’s property and some shares, are just learning about alternative investment opportunities available in the credit markets and the benefit they can have on an investor’s portfolio. Our credit funds offer excellent diversification and are uncorrelated to traditional investments. The contracted cashflows mean consistency in returns, which benefits all investors.”
“For Remara, the alignment with the Dragons works perfectly; Remara is out to perform in everything we do, offering investment products and service levels that outperform peers in the market. The club has made several key changes, showing its desire to perform and build on the solid foundation achieved in 2024. It is rare to see partnerships come together like this. We are really excited about the direction of the team.”
“Remara has built an offering that provides several options for investors to choose their desired risk and liquidity needs; we have developed an investor-focused approach, delivering funds that specifically address investors’ needs as they move through their investing lifecycle. The multi-generational fan base of the Dragons aligns well with our offering. It allows us to showcase how we meet investor needs.”
Chief Executive Officer of the St George Illawarra Dragons Ryan Webb said that the new partnership was part of the Dragons’ financial services legacy but also part of the reinvigoration of the Club’s partnership portfolio.
“We’re really pleased to have secured Remara as our sternum apparel and investment major partner and work with a key brand in this sector. We’ve got a very loyal multi-generational member base. We are conscious of working with partners that resonate with their values and how they communicate with them.”
